The Visual Story (01/30/08)
ASSIGNMENT 2 (Due Feb 06)
You will be working with 2 brands that have different stories and creating a third brand that has features of both.
PART ONE
Using Pantone swatches, identify the logo colors for 2 selected brands from each of your brand categories.
Re-draw each logo in vector format. Swap the colors of the 2 brand logos.
Do this exercise at least 3 times with different combinations of brand logos (one from each of your categories). Show all variations and present the one you think is most successful.
PART TWO
Explain how changing the colors affects the story of each brand.
WORK DUE
You will present your assignment via the class blog. Be sure to post your work on the blog BEFORE class.

Every brand tells a visual story. Color palette is one of the key elements in this story.
PART ONE
Collect a minimum of 30 examples of brand logos (domestic and international) from your assigned category and build a coherent color story.
Red and Blue – Banks
Pastels – Pharmaceuticals
Red and Blue – Oil and Gas Companies
Tan and Green – Organic and Health Food
Drabs – Military
Magenta Pink – Teen Products
Brights – Junk Food / Candy
Red and Yellow – Fast Food
Purple and Gold – Religion
Silver – Vodka or Car Companies
Black and Silver – Heavy Metal
Burgundy
Dark Green
Orange
Brown
PART TWO
