ASSIGNMENT 1 (Due Jan 30)
Every brand tells a visual story. Color palette is one of the key elements in this story.
PART ONE
Collect a minimum of 30 examples of brand logos (domestic and international) from your assigned category and build a coherent color story.
Red and Blue – Banks
Pastels – Pharmaceuticals
Red and Blue – Oil and Gas Companies
Tan and Green – Organic and Health Food
Drabs – Military
Magenta Pink – Teen Products
Brights – Junk Food / Candy
Red and Yellow – Fast Food
Purple and Gold – Religion
Silver – Vodka or Car Companies
Black and Silver – Heavy Metal
Burgundy
Dark Green
Orange
Brown
PART TWO
Group your logo research by color and present in a grid on 11”x17” pages. Explain how the color palette tells the story of the brand category. What do the colors have in common? What do the brands have in common?
WORK DUE
The class will review all work as 11”x17” printouts.
