THE BAND

This a an elastic band with fabric around it, like that of a hair-tie.
There is a small transparent square/cube bead where the ends of the elastic is adhered.
On the cube are 2 "+'s" and "='s" symbols in white acrylic.

Due April 30

Assignment Due 04.30.08

This is a follow up to review the work from last week/ assignment material:

We should be looking at a more finished version of the work we saw this
week and should address the outline below.

The bound set with elastic band closure is being further developed by
Roland's group. The suggestion is thatthis is the base model for whole class to follow and is broken down into 3 parts:

Group 1
Structural/Overall design and production
-Technical requirements-paper thickness, scoring
-Size confirmed- coordinated with books (spines)
-Incorporation of books- notch design

Group 2
-Follow up on Yingyan's bound example- will your group pursue this as an alternative to notched publication?
-Layout for exterior of the bound set from group example last week.
-Is this printed? Embossed? Silkscreened?

Group 3
-Elastic closure
-Other material for closure? (metal, copper band, chain, magnet, hemp
cord, printed cord. woven tape
-How does this interact with notches/design of notches
-Printing?
-Can this be used in another way (necklace etc)

Additionally everyone should have their final book sent out so that it is here in time.

Also please deliver page layouts and communicate with Cian for book #14.

The above information is minimum guidelines- please communicate amongst yourselves as a whole studio to address any exciting ideas not detailed above.

Thanks
